Creating Error Logs for Adobe Add-Ons

If you are experiencing problems installing Add-Ons directly from the Add-Ons website, please consider contributing log files to help Adobe solve this problem. The process is a bit involved, but not too hard. If you'd be willing to help, please follow the instructions below.

To create a log file, it is necessary to set up your computer (by adding a couple of files to specific folders) and then to use the Add-Ons website to install or remove some add-ons to populate the logs with data. Below are some free Add-Ons for Photoshop that can be used for this purpose once the computer has been properly configured to capture log data:

For Apple computers (Mac)

  1. Create a file called ExManCoreLibLog.YES in the following folder:
    /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Log
To do this, create a text file and rename it ExManCoreLibLog.YES (be sure to replace the .txt extension with .YES), or copy the ready-made file from this ZIP folder.
  2. Create a file called ExManLog.YES in the following folder:
    /Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CC/Adobe Extension Manager CC.app/Contents/MacOS
To do this, create a text file and rename it ExManLog.YES (be sure to replace the .txt extension with .YES), or copy the ready-made file from this ZIP folder.
  3. Attempt to install and remove one or more of the free add-ons using the URLs listed above.
  4. Once Add-Ons installation/removal has been attempted (to populate the logs), attach the following files to an email and send it to avetting@adobe.com along with a note that you are having trouble installing Add-Ons directly from the Add-Ons website:
    a) /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Configuration/DB/ExMan.db
    b) /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Extension Manager CC/Log/<the files in this folder> (Please send all the files in the "Log" folder that you see, but especially the most recent one if there are several.)

For Windows computers

  1. Create a file called ExManCoreLibLog.YES in the following folder:
    C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log
To do this, create a text file and rename it ExManCoreLibLog.YES (be sure to replace the .txt extension with .YES), or copy the ready-made file from this ZIP folder.
  2. Create a file called ExManLog.YES in the following folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Extension Manager CC
To do this, create a text file and rename it ExManLog.YES (be sure to replace the .txt extension with .YES), or copy the ready-made file from this ZIP folder.
  3. Attempt to install and remove one or more of the free add-ons using the URLs listed above.
  4. Once Add-Ons installation/removal has been attempted (to populate the logs), attach the following files to an email and send it to avetting@adobe.com along with a note that you are having trouble installing Add-Ons directly from the Add-Ons website:
    a) C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Configuration\DB\ExMan.db
    b) C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Extension Manager CC\Log\<the files in this folder> (Please send all the files in the "Log" folder that you see, but especially the most recent one if there are several.)
