This arch lights up with reflected light for only a few weeks on either side of the winter solstice. It's at its best on Thanksgiving Day. I usually don't visit when clouds threaten to block the sun, since without the sun, there is no glow show. On this day, however, I got lucky. The clouds were just right to let the sunlight through to illuminate the rocks while at the same time adding a nice textural element to the sky.
