A Stitch in Time
The storm continued to grow and eventually blocked out the moon along with the light and definition it provided to the canyon. As it continued to trek east, though, the moon eventually reappeared and once again created light and shadow in the canyon.
Because the widest focal length on my camera is only 28 mm, one frame could not encompass both the towering storm cloud and the canyon, so this image is a composite of two frames exposed approximately 30 minutes apart. One frame captures the cloud and its internal glow and the other the moonlit canyon and the triple lightning bolt.
