Sandstone Gone Wild
In this remarkable place, sandstone has a mind of its own. It simply does what it damn well pleases, somehow escaping the natural constraints placed on its sandstone sisters. While no one paid attention, bright colors, changing patterns, and intricate textures arranged themselves side-by-side in a pageant of one-up-manship reminiscent of bonnets on Easter Sunday. Everywhere you look there are competing scenes shouting, "Look at me! Look at me!" The competition for the viewer's eye is intense and the first-time visitor walks around dazed and amazed at the sight of it all. Changing sky and light only fuels the situation. The more boisterous elements start in with "You ain't seen nothin' yet! Watch this!" and end with a self-assured "See, didn't I tell you?" These rocks have been at it a long time and know how to strut their stuff. They don't care what Nature says. Natural law simply doesn't apply. Either that, or there's no power strong enough to enforce it.
