Saguaro Blossom
The saguaro cacti bloom from March through June. It's a prolonged show with each plant taking its time to display its blossoms, a show that stretches into the hottest days of the year. By the time the monsoon rains arrive, many fruits have matured and been eaten resulting in the seeds being dispersed across the landscape. It's actually not possible to "plant" a saguaro seed in the earth and have it grow. It must simply lie on top of the ground and await moisture and the right conditions to germinate. The saguaros, of course, had this all worked out a long time ago. But so nice to watch these ancient rhythms play out in the desert heat.
