Goosenecks
Goosenecks State Park in southeastern Utah provides an excellent example of an entrenched meander. As the Colorado Plateau uplifted, the meandering San Juan River held its course as it carved into the sedimentary layers. Late in the day at the overlook the upper parts are bathed in warm sunshine while the lower layers and the river below are in the cool-colored shadows.
