Fallen Rainbow
What if a rainbow fell to Earth?
Dropped by the sun and the distant rain,
Unsupported by the dark clouds or the sky.
What would happen to the colors?
Would they evaporate into the air,
Like dreams after we wake,
Or would they sink into the Earth,
Staining the ground with intense hues that once only graced the sky?
What about the shape?
Would the impact be gentle to preserve the arch and its sequence of colors,
Or would it twist and break,
Scattering the colors and warping the rocks as it hit?
And what if no one saw it fall?
Could we figure out what happened
When we accidentally encounter the crash site,
Or would we simply wonder
Where on Earth
Did all this color come from?
What if a rainbow fell to Earth?
