Elephant's Feet No. 2
The Elephant's Feet are adjacent to Highway 160 about 20 miles northeast of Tuba City, Arizona. They are composed of relatively soft Entrada sandstone with a thin layer of slightly harder capstone that allows erosion to create these tall columns. This is dawn light in mid-January with a weather forecast of an approaching winter storm. The first hints of light weren't too spectacular, but the glow blossomed to eventually encompass the whole sky and provide warm, soft light over the entire scene.
