Control Tower
Jet contrails can complicate nature photography. They often mess up an otherwise beautiful sky or show up between natural clouds and look out of place. Their presence can stimulate the formation of cirrus clouds that then go on to mute the sunlight just when full sun is desired. As a photographer, I generally don't like them. On this day, however, I had an ally. A rock formation in the area I was photographing took control of these errant wisps and brought a sense of order to them. It was the middle of the afternoon, and the light, the rock, and the clouds worked together in a rather unexpected way to create an interesting composition.
